UNECA: ICT Best Practices Forum, Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (7-9 June)
This two-day meeting, called the ICT Best Practices Forum, is organized by the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the Government of Burkina Faso, the African Development Bank and Microsoft. This forum is an element of the African Information Society Initiative, and will allow Governments, donors, institutions and other groups from the region to share their experiences.

ITU: Launch of Global Cybersecurity Agenda
As part of its mandate given by the World Summit on the Information Society to build confidence in the use of ICT, ITU announces an ambitious two-year plan to curb cybercrime. The announcement was made by ITU Secretary-General Dr Hamadoun Touré at a ceremony to present the 2007 ITU World Information Society Award.

ILO: New publication : Combining microinsurance and new technologies to protect the poor
To fulfil the potential of microinsurance in protecting the poor, it is necessary to develop an insurance culture among the low-income market and introduce products that meet their primary needs. Information technologies, including smart cards, barcode systems and the Internet could contribute significantly to expanded outreach, better products, cost cutting, and the sustainability of providers.
