  • Consulting on Financial Mechanisms for Meeting the challenges of ICT for Development link
  • Stocktaking of ICT-related projects of UNGIS members link
  • Mapping of UNGIS members’ initiatives in the areas of science, technology and innovation as well as the promotion of transfer of technology link
  • Enhancing collaboration and information sharing through WSIS community online platform link
  • Cooperating with the Partnership on Measuring ICT for Development, encouraging UNGIS members to measure progress made towards reaching the WSIS targets link
  • Strengthening the links between the WSIS process outcomes, the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) and the UN Development Group (UNDG) link

About UNGIS Minimize

In April 2006, UNGIS (United Nations Group on the Information Society) was endorsed by the UN-Chief Executives Board (CEB) as the new inter-agency mechanism with the main objective to coordinate substantive and policy issues facing the United Nations’ implementation of the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).

UNGIS session during ICT4All+4 Forum

Financing Mechanisms will be addressed in one of the parallel events during the fourth edition of "ICT 4 All Forum-Tunis+4" in Hammamet (Tunisia) that will take place 24th and 25th November 2009 to deal with developing ICT activities.

UNGIS Open consultations

The Open Consultations on Financing Mechanisms for Meeting the Challenges of ICT for Development were held on 8-9 October 2009 at Palexpo, Geneva. The meeting was hosted by the ITU and jointly organized by the UNGIS Chair and Vice-Chairs, i.e. ITU, UNESCO, UNCTAD, UNECA and UNDP and was open to all WSIS stakeholders.
